  Toshihiro Kaneshige was born in 1988 in Mie, Japan, and received his first musical training at home. He made his orchestral debut at the age of eleven with the Krakow Philharmonic and won the second prize at Japan’s most prestigious national student competition in Nagoya at the age of fourteen.

In 2006, he began his studies at the University of the Arts Tokyo (Tokyo-Geidai) with Kenji Watanabe and Ewa Pobłocka. In 2012, he continued his training at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater „Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy“ Leipzig as a scholarship holder of the Okada-Bunka Foundation and the Rotary Foundation. In 2013/14, he received the annual scholarship of the Elfrun Gabriel Foundation.

Toshihiro Kaneshige regularly performs as a soloist and chamber musician in Europe, the USA, and Asia. He is a member of the Zephyrus Piano Quintet, which he founded together with members of the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden and the Munich Philharmonic. Highlights of his chamber music activities include performances at the Bach Society Houston (USA) and the gala celebrating the 475th anniversary of the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, as well as frequent concerts in Japan, including the New Year and Season Opening concerts at Toppan Hall, one of the country’s leading chamber music venues.

As a soloist, he has performed Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in Rostock on the recommendation of Menahem Pressler and Bartók’s Piano Concerto No. 3 at the Gewandhaus Leipzig and Coliseu do Porto. His orchestral appearances have taken him to Japan, Europe, and the USA.

In 2016, he won the 1st Prize of the Academia Internacional de Música „Aquiles Delle Vigne“ within the framework of the Coimbra World Piano Competition, accompanied by solo and orchestral concerts in Portugal.

In 2018, he completed his studies in the master class of Prof. Gerald Fauth with top grades. He also received artistic guidance in masterclasses with Makoto Ueno and Elisabeth Leonskaja, among others.

He currently resides in Tokyo but continues to perform regularly in France and Belgium. Previously, he taught in Leipzig and Tokyo, and he is currently a professor in Kyoto and Nagoya.

Toshihiro Kaneshige wurde 1988 in Mie (Japan) geboren und erhielt seine erste musikalische Ausbildung im Elternhaus. Bereits mit elf Jahren gab er sein Orchesterdebüt mit den Krakauer Philharmonikern, mit vierzehn gewann er den zweiten Preis beim bedeutendsten nationalen Musikwettbewerb für Studierende in Nagoya.

2006 begann er sein Studium an der Universität der Künste Tokio (Tokyo-Geidai) bei Kenji Watanabe und Ewa Pobłocka. 2012 setzte er als Stipendiat der „Okada-Bunka“-Stiftung und der Rotary-Stiftung seine Ausbildung an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater „Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy“ Leipzig fort. 2013/14 erhielt er das Jahresstipendium der Stiftung Elfrun Gabriel.

Toshihiro Kaneshige konzertiert regelmäßig als Solist und Kammermusiker in Europa, den USA und Asien. Er ist Mitglied des Zephyrus Piano Quintet, das er zusammen mit Mitgliedern der Sächsischen Staatskapelle Dresden und der Münchner Philharmoniker gegründet hat. Höhepunkte seiner Kammermusiktätigkeit sind Auftritte bei der Bach Society Houston (USA) und Auftritte bei der Festgala zum 475-jährigen Jubiläum der Sächsischen Staatskapelle Dresdensowie häufige Konzerte in Japan, darunter die Neujahrskonzerte und Saison-Eröffnungskonzerte im Toppan Hall, einem der führenden Kammermusikzentren des Landes.

Als Solist spielte er u. a. Beethovens 3. Klavierkonzert in Rostock auf Empfehlung von Menahem Pressler und Bartóks 3. Klavierkonzert im Gewandhaus Leipzig und im Coliseu do Porto. Seine Orchesterauftritte führten ihn nach Japan, Europa und in die USA.

2016 gewann er den 1. Preis bei der Coimbra World Piano Competition, verbunden mit Solokonzerten und Orchesterauftritten in Portugal.

2018 schloss er sein Studium in der Meisterklasse von Prof. Gerald Fauth mit Bestnoten ab. Weitere künstlerische Impulse erhielt er bei Meisterkursen u. a. bei Makoto Ueno, Elisabeth Leonskaja.

Seinen aktuellen Wohnsitz hat Toshihiro Kaneshige in Tokio, tritt jedoch weiterhin regelmäßig in Frankreich, Belugien auf. Zuvor unterrichtete er in Leipzig und Tokio, derzeit ist er als Dozent in Kyoto und Nagoya tätig.

Toshihiro Kaneshige se produit régulièrement en tant que soliste et musicien de chambre en Europe, aux États-Unis et en Asie. Il est membre du Zephyrus Piano Quintet, qu’il a fondé avec des membres de la Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden et de l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Munich. Parmi les moments forts de son activité de musique de chambre figurent des concerts à la Bach Society Houston (USA) et lors de la gala du 475e anniversaire de la Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, ainsi que de nombreux concerts au Japon, notamment les concerts du Nouvel An et les concerts d’ouverture de saison au Toppan Hall, l’une des principales salles de musique de chambre du pays.

En tant que soliste, il a notamment joué le 3e concerto pour piano de Beethoven à Rostock sur recommandation de Menahem Pressler et le 3e concerto pour piano de Bartók au Gewandhaus Leipzig et au Coliseu de Porto. Ses prestations avec orchestre l’ont conduit au Japon, en Europe et aux États-Unis.
